Abstract

Aryoxypropanolamines and aryethanolamines are prepared and used as b–adrenergic receptor blockers in the treatment of hypertension. In this report, we have incorporated the features of both of these kinds of b–adrenergic blockers in the lead structure and prepared these compounds using a novel bis-epoxide. This bis-epopxide was treated to generate m-(substituted aminohydroxypropoxy)phenylethanolamines. These compounds exhibited some promising stimulant and depressant activities.

Key words: Aryoxypropanolamines, aryethanolamines, bis-epoxide, β-adrenergic blockers, β-adrenergic receptor antagonists
