Abstract:
Separation and determination of Fe(III) and Mn(II) was performed
by ligand-exchange reversed phase high performance liquid
chromatography (RP-HPLC) with mobile phase containing
2,2َ-diamino-4,4΄–bithiazole (DABTZ) as a ligand. The resolution
was determined with various concentrations of ligand and
methanol in the aqueous mobile phase at different pH values. The
effect of ionic salts and type and concentration of buffer on
the separation is also discussed. The results showed that a good
separation was obtained at 25°C, using a mobile phase containing
0.1 mM DABTZ, 30 mM acetate buffer and 25% methanol at pH 5.5.
The response was linear from 1.5×10-3 to3.3×10-8 M for Fe(III)
with a detection limit of 1.1×10-8 M and 2.0×10-3 to 3.6×10-7 for Mn(II) with a detection limit of 1.2×10-7 M.
