Abstract: A new series of transition metal complexes of Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) with dibasic tridentate Schiff’s bases derived from 3-(4-chlorophenoxymethyl)-4-amino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole with substituted salicylaldehyde of the type ML(H2O)2 [where L is doubly deprotonated ligand and M= Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II)] have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and  NMR studies. All the complexes are colored and amorphous in nature. The low values of conductance indicate non-electrolytic nature for these complexes. On the basis of spectral data a four coordinated tetrahedral geometry have been proposed for these complexes. The ligands and its metal complexes have been screened for their antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aurious and antifungal activity against A. niger and A. flavous by Cup-plate method.

Keywords:  Triazoles, Metal complexes, Spectral studies and Antimicrobial activity.
