Abstract:
In light of the Jhabua tribals claim to use bark of Syzygium
cumini in the treatment of malaria, an investigation was
carried out to evaluate the antimalarial activity of hydro-ethanolic
extract obtained from the stem bark of Syzygium cumini.
Three test concentrations (2mg/ml,
10mg/ml
and 50mg/ml)
of extract were used for in-vitro antimalarial assay against
Plasmodium falciparum NF 54 strain, taking Chloroquine as
standard reference drug.
