Abatract. Barium titanate nano particles have been prepared by co-precipitation in aqueous solution followed by calcination. The samples were analyzed using a series of techniques including XRD and TG. The particle size was calculated based on the Scherer equation and the average particle size vary from 50 to 80 nm. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated in the degradation of methyl orange in aqueous solution. The results show that BaTiO3 nano particles exhibit good photocatalytic activity under visible range condition.

KEY WORDS:
