Abstract: A series of substituted p-amino phenyl sulphonamide-cinnoline-3-carboxamide were synthesized and evaluated for anti-microbial activity. Several such compounds showed good anti-microbial activity on comparison to standard drugs Norfloxacin and Griseofulvin. Among them 6-iodo-4-(p-amino phenyl sulphonamide) cinnoline -3-carboxamide, 7-fluoro-4-(p-amino phenyl sulphonamide) cinnoline-3-carboxamide and 8-iodo-4-(p-amino phenyl sulphonamide) cinnoline-3-carboxamide were found to be most active anti-microbial agents.

KEY WORDS: Cnnoline, sulphonamide, Von-Richter synthesis, anti-microbial activity.
