Abstract.
The glycosides and aglycones of Thevetia peruviana seed were
extracted, purified and characterised by infrared, 1H and
13C NMR spectroscopy. The aglycone of the major glycoside (Thevetin
A) was converted to the acetate and was characterised. The
2,4-dinitrophenyl hydrazone derivative of the glycoside was
also prepared and characterised. 2,4-dinitrophenyl hydrazine
was found to be an effective spray reagent for the
visualization of the thin layer chromatography of thevetia
glycosides and aglycones.
