Abstract:
A polymeric chelates based on salicyldene-o-aminophenol (SAP)
chelating with zinc (Zn(II)) ion was studied by several
spectroscopic techniques. Molecular mechanics (MM+) calculations
suggest that the energy of the optimum molecular geometric
structure of a polymeric chelates form of SAP-Zn(II) matrix is
lower (stable) about eight (8.15) times of magnitude than the
energy of the binary form (SAP-Zn) of the same matrix. A simple,
rapid and sensitive method for the spectrophotometric
determination of trace amounts of Zn(II) ion in solution by
chelating with the SAP is proposed The method has been applied
successfully to the determination of (Zn(II) ion in Immu-C
sachets samples (mg/g). The proposed method is in excellent
agreement with the determination of Zn(II) ion by atomic
absorption spectrometry.
